These instructions apply to these vehicles, which all have similar wiper systems:

1998 Saab 9000- Drawing applies to all application vehicles listed above. Print this.
RT-40A - HSS (Hot Side Switching)- Included with product, so print only if needed.
Troubleshooting procedure- Print out if needed.

Wire colors used in this vehicle:

+12V - BRN
GROUND - LOCATE
FAST - GRN
SLOW - RED

Special Rain Tracker Installation Notes for this vehicle:

Write the wire colors of the vehicle on the HSS drawing, and follow that
when you wire up the Rain Tracker. Use the factory drawing as a reference
to help you find the wires. Some models and years may vary slightly in wire colors.
Factory drawings can be wrong, so, confirm wire colors with a multimeter.

All wiper system wires, except ground, are available at the wiper switch. They
can usually be accessed by removing one or two access panels (Kick Panels) and,
possibly, the shrouds surrounding the steering column.

FIND CHASSIS GROUND
Find a suitable screw or bolt on the metal chassis of the vehicle to use as the
Rain Tracker ground. Scrape away paint as needed for a good connection.
Use a multi-meter to verify that the ground connection is at most a few ohms.
The cigarette lighter can also be a good alternate for ground and/or power.

WIRE COLORS
The FAST and SLOW wire colors may be switched. A customer installed the Rain Tracker
with the colors as shown and the wipers did not operate correctly. He noticed the
colors on these instructions were switched as compared to his vehicle. Check for this using
a multimeter or some other means.

+12V CONNECTION
On the 96-98 900, +12V - BRN/BLK

The RT-40A does not utilize the FAST windings of the wiper motor. Please disregard any references
to FAST that appear in these instructions.
