Hydreon Corporation is formerly Opto-Electronic Design, Inc.
We are a technology company, focused on sensing and control, and have been in business since 1998. Our core competency is in solving particularly intractable engineering problems. We emphasize understanding the underlying mathematics of physical processes, and utilizing the latest available technology and research development.
Our Approach
We start by thoroughly understanding the objective-- "begin with the end in mind." Then by research, experimentation, and computer simulation, we seek to thoroughly understand the mathematics of the underlying problem. Our developers challenge all of the underlying assumptions-- especially those that posit that something cannot be done. We build a functioning prototype early into any program, and regard the prototyping process as one of the key learning and research tools of the development cycle. We like to see results early. When we arrive at an innovative solution (at the risk of being immodest, we usually do) we work closely with attorneys to provide patent protection. Early into any program we consult with our very capable manufacturing partner Xenso. Xenso's engineering goes well beyond design-for-manufacture (DFM), and they have been responsible for many innovations.

We occasionally consult on specific products or engineering questions, especially for projects that could leverage our manufacturing partner, Xenso. People come to us with all kinds of ideas, and once in awhile something is a good fit. Feel free to approach us. Know that we strive to treat everyone fairly, but also know that if you have some idea in a field in which we are already working, we may well have already considered it.
A good fit tends to be something that leverages the skills we delineate here and elsewhere on this site to solve a formerly unsolved problem. We are probably not the right company for, say, a straightforward microprocessor-based control system to automate a production process. The less straightforward, the better. Also, we are much more interested if there is potential to build at least a few thousand of the thing.
Xenso - Our Strategic Partner and Investor
We are proud to be in strategic partnership with Xenso Sdn Bhd-- a Malaysia-based automotive supplier to OE tier 1 and tier 2 markets, as well as the automotive aftermarket. Xenso manufactures most of our products in Malaysia, and is our sole representatives in Asian markets. Xenso holds an equity position in Hydreon Corporation.
